VINTAGE WEDDING DRESSES DEFINITION

 Sourse(google,com.pk)
Assembled for you from the editors of Junebug Weddings, this group is all about of vintage and vintage-inspired wedding dresses. The definition is loose-- tea length 1950s cocktail frock or floor length bias cut 1930s gown-- we want to see it.
There are lots of great wedding photography groups on flickr with tons and tons of images. Our aim here is a little different. We wanted to build a well-edited, lovely group of images around a specific theme that we hope brides and grooms will find helpful. For this reason, images will be held for approval before they are added to the pool. So please, add images! And please, don't be upset if we don't include your image, it likely just means that it doesn't quite fit the description we outlined above.
Check out our other groups for more wedding inspiration. Want even more? Check out our blog, What June Bug Loves, for an ongoing source of details, ideas, and inspiration!
The term ‘vintage wedding' is an overused or misplaced term when describing atypical vintage wedding, according to some.  Nevertheless vintage weddings, which vary in style, theme and design, appear to be increasing in popularity year on year.
I feel a good place to start is to investigate the definition of the word ‘vintage' as its easier to come up vintage wedding ideas if you understand the definition. The Oxford Dictionary gives varying definitions!
I feel a good place to start is to investigate the definition of the word ‘vintage' as its easier to come up vintage wedding ideas if you understand the definition. The Oxford Dictionary gives varying definitions! Four refer to ‘vintage wine' unsurprisingly! However, the dictionary also provides the following definition: "denoting something from the past of high quality, especially something representing the best of its kind. Other definitions include the following: "of old, recognised and enduring interest, importance or quality".
Leaving personal interpretation to one side the following is a relatively accurate guideline of the terms Vintage, Retro and Antique
Vintage – Usually refers to an item that is at least 25 years old but less than 100 years old.
Antique – Although there are some variances, most people consider antiques to be an item of at least 100 years of age.
Retro – Coined to refer to the decades of the 1960′s and 1970′s, though nowadays some people use it interchangeably with "vintage" and often use it to refer to the 1940′s and 1950′s.

Whist researching the subject I came across agreat blog on Apartment Therapy which investigated the historical classification system of the words ‘Antique' ‘Vintage' and ‘Retro'.  In summary here's what they concluded on the word vintage: "In other words, for the term vintage to accurately apply to it, an item should be somewhat representational and recognizable as belonging to the era in which it was made." I think this best describes what vintage actually is.
I also believe vintage means taking particular elements from each era bringing them together and recreating them to that particular time in history.
Naturally, Vintage means different things to different people and by its own nature the definition is very fluid but I think the one constant is the term makes you think of a romantic, elegant and even chivalrous era – which makes it a perfect theme for a wedding!  I've used the term "vintage lover". Indeed, this is a fitting, if somewhat vague title that quickly lets others know I have a passion for the past. Anything that is not current can be defined as vintage.
The ‘shabby chic' or ‘country eclectic' themed wedding appears in many wedding blogs at present.  Some would argue this style isn't an authentic ‘Vintage' wedding, I would say it links back to my earlier point about the definition itself being very fluid.  If shabby chic, rustic, whatever you may wish to call it, represents the individuals personalities, tastes and likes then so what if they refer to it as vintage!
I suggest researching your own ideas for a vintage themed wedding, in turn this can inspire your own unique definition or perception of vintage.  Its possible to give a vintage twist to any wedding. I firmly believe its important to make your wedding as individual and personable as possible, another good place to start is to incorporate family collectables or air looms, you will be surprised what you will find following a good rummage in the loft, cellar, shed or garage! I know from first hand! Build from what you find you make your special event your own.
Vintage Occasions supplies an eclectic array of vintage hire props and collectables such as vintage crockery, glassware and furniture to help create bespoke vintage themed weddings and other events such as anniversaries, birthdays, garden or tea parties.
